Coach Cal

He nailed the press conference. Talked to previous coaches and players to fond out more about the program.

I'm not going to lie guys, I think this is the beginning of something special.

HM,

I think he was talking about the young recruits that BCG had already offered schollies to.. He said he would evaluate each one of them individually and tell them whether or not they were good enough to play at UK..

New post means a new carryover comment from the previous post:

"Barnhart is the biggest doofus on the planet. I'm glad you guys see this. That guy is a chud.

Czar, sorry man, but there's no way that you wanna meet WWW as much as me. Afterall, you spelled his name "Worldwise Wes" the other day. That means you can't like him as much as me.

NOBODY WANTS TO MEET WWW AS WORSE AS ME!!!!!!"

If I was a UK fan I'd be so happy to see Michael Porter, Harrelson, Harris, and Galloway gone.

I bet you guys didn't know that I'm secretly huge fans of Perry and AJ, did you?

i just spent the past 20 minutes editing a picture to make a post of.

you beat me to it greedo

hell, i might just post it any ways.

greedo, is there anyway i can add a picture to you post?

TheGreedMan said...

Go ahead bud, I just copied that one from UK athletics..

daddy fabulous said...

i'll save it for a later date.

that guy really knew what he was doing this morning. he literally said everything UK fans wanted to hear. talked about past players, relationships with past coaches, gave a shout out to Mr. Wildcat, made fun of our 8th grade recruit, and told us we were about to get some amazing talent into the program.

like i said in the previous post, that guy really knows how to talk. going from billy clyde to Johnny C is like night and day when referring to media realations.

and to think all of this is in time for next season when all of our conference games will be televised by espn.

i bet espn's happier than most right now, and just for the simple fact that they won't have to do interviews and ALL-ACCESS things with clyde anymore.

johnny c's gonna sweet talk the shit outta espn

YES!!

p.s. i bet we wear the black uniforms MUCH more next season. and i do mean much MUCH MORE next season.

p.p.s "you can....u conn" lol! i've heard this multiple times this morning and it's cracking me up everytime

"cause you just played like POOP!"

Serious question Cats' fans, think Meeks will stay?

I honestly think PPat will be here one more year, but I think Meeks should strongly consider leaving. His production was amazing last year, and with a new coach coming in with a new system, it may be difficult for him to repeat that production...not sure how good he will be in Cal's system...I can't imagine his stock being higher after next year than it is this year...

On the flip side, UK will be much improved next year, along with the espn deal, Meeks will have more exposure...so that may convince him to stay also...who knows?

What are Cats fans hearing about Meeks and PPatt?

MediumHeadCHUD said...

i think one of the biggest potential knocks on Meeks is his inability to take his man off the dribble. Since Cal's "offense" apparently requires players to have this very skill, i could see some conflict. on the other hand, what better way to improve in this area than by having an offense devoted to it.

TheGreedMan said...

Rav,

I dont think Meeks can leave.. Dude is projected as a second rounder next year.. As far as his production in a new system, I think there were some serious issues between Jodie and BCG which would explain why he only shot the ball like 4 times a game at the end of the year..

I think Jodie could do really well next year if we get a solid pg.. I really dont know how he will respond to the dribble drive offense, but they said Cal's teams usually love to jack it up.. Thats right up his alley, and if we get a solid pg, Jodie will score a ton in transition..

I am getting really curious as to what the lineup will be next year..

greedo

TheGreedMan said...

By next year, I dont mean this next draft.. He's not even listed on this draft coming up, hes a 2nd rounder in the following year..

I think I may get a "I <3 Coach Cal" tattoo right underneath my UK one.

B-Man said...

Sara, I have a bunch of ideas for your next tat. Let me know and I'll share them all with you.

I imagine both players will test the waters and see what gives. Who knows what will happen after that.

Only thing about Meeks and PPat is that they'd be risking a lot if they don't get a chance to produce in his new system. That's the only problem. But then there's the other side of the coin and if they dominated in his system.

Who knows what will happen. They may not even make the first cuts at tryouts.

And also, maybe this is the kind fo system that Ramon Harris has been salivating at the mouth for.

B-Man said...

That goes for all of you too, I have all kinds of ideas for tats.

BRDD said...

Yeah, I bet all Ramon grew up playing in Alaska was the dribble drive.

The fact that Barbour and Rondo went to play for Tubby Smith is still totally hilarious to me.

BRDD said...

Sara, if you ever get another tattoo I promise I'll kick your friggin ass.

daddy fabulous said...

I'LL KILL YOU IF YOU GET ANOTHER TAT!!!

lol!!!

like greedo said, meeks isn't even projected in this years draft! he has every reason to stay, and try to improve on his game one more year. the only reason i could see him leaving is if he has some sort of azubuike situation.

i think pat has a greater likelihood of leaving, but i still think he is highly likely to comeback next year. i just can't see that guy leaving college without a single ncaa tournament win. some may disagree with me here, but the dude just seems like he really love college basketball, and will only leave it when he feels like he can't do anymore.

and talking about salivating, i'm having to type this over the sink cause my mouth is shooting out saliva like a fire hose!

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

MediumHeadCHUD said...

speaking of tatt ideas, y'all know that if Zo ever wins P-Ball (he's had a rough go the last few months, so maybe it's high time for some good fortune for my man), Feen's allotment, if any:), will be contingent on Feen getting a forearm tatt that reads: "Tubes is better than me."

Shamisoshea23 said...

- Some great ish on here today.

- Johns just trying to fake us out, he's probably doubling back as we speak. Hes always got UK on the brain, I think he might be a closet Cat.

- I think Jodie would be just fine in JCs offense, and unless he just doesnt want to be at UK, I dont think he really has much choice as far as the NBA is concerned. He could also have a better season next year, if it turns out UK is good next year and he produces in the same ball park, I think his stock would be higher.

MediumHeadCHUD said...

shane, is it too early to ask if you have any good info on 1) there will be any extra room for additional recruits, and 2) just who those recruits might turn out to be.

from what i've read, here's a list of certain/possible(*) A)scholarship opennings and B) commitments:

A) Scholarship Opennings

-Carter (expired eligibilllllllity)
-Williams (expired 1-year scholarship)
-Porter (retirement, or walk-on w/ academic scholarship)
-Meeks* (possible academic scholarship)

B) Scholarship Commitments

-Pilgram
-Orton
-Vilarino
-Hood

So if we honor our scholarships to our current incoming class, we're maxed out, and any other additions will require players either transferring or giving up their scholarships.

What's your take Shane?

Hey Ladies Man, most of the time when people put a * after a comment, they have another one describing what gives.

Adios John, have fun. Leave this blog to the REAL Cats fans

Beamin said...

The question on PTI was how long before Cal reaches the final four and they both said two years. i have really not been surprised by the fans being that optimistic but to hear them say it was crazy to me.

Paul I saw you questioning his recruiting and things yesterday and I want to point out I have many sources saying they have seen you hanging outside of middle schools and optimist football leagues with some duffle bags and making sweet promises to these kids about where they will fit in your offense.

Also whenever you all talk about him cheating I think about blue chips which is a sick movie and I think about the threesome in He Got Game which has two hot bitches so I am enjoying it.

Beamin said...

If Cal really want to impress me it wont be going to a Final Four in his first or second season it would be getting us in this one. Then he will be worth every cent.Maybe he can talk us into the Huskies spot since they are under heat anyways

MediumHeadCHUD said...

oh yeah, czar? well those people also use * to denote something, e.g., i denoted possible scholarship opennings with the *.

B-Man said...

I know Ladies Man, I can read. I was just messin with ya. However, I was 100% serious about what I just said to you in the email I just sent.

Brent, nice of you to show up to a UK blog when something positive happened. Where were you the last three months? Typical UK fan bull shit.

Also, I have recruited kids from the city to come at Seneca, tis true. But I have never spoken with anyone like WWW and I have never promised a kid playing time or anything.

So you just watch some film on Cal's style and try not to pick up 14 fouls in the first half tomorrow. And while you're at it, try not to let your man back you down until he's felt he's close enough to lay it up.

Beamin said...

Lol, I keep praying i get matched up with a player one of these weeks who has your same limitaions on the court then I wont have to worry at all.

Shane kept these blogs hidden from me he felt I was to sensitive to be on here and was afraid i might fight someone for something they said on here.Tomorrow when I see you at the game we'll see if his worries were correct or not.

On a more serious note though i got in foul trouble in my game last night too so I am really racking them up.I could probably try to fight more for positioning but I am just polite and want my opponent to have the best chance for scoring on me possible.

playafromdahimalaya said...

Churd,

Meeks and Porter on academic scholarships? I am not completely sure how it works in college basketball, but in college football if a player comes to a university on a athletic scholarship, then is placed on an academic scholarship...he is still counted against the school's allotment for athletic scholarships for that 1st year he is on academic scholarships. It prevents teams from manipulating the system. Like I said, that's how it is in college football...might be a completely different rule for college basketball.

SONE

MediumHeadCHUD said...

sone, i'm not sure what the rules are. i mistakenly based my statement on ravi moss's situation a few years back. i thought he had been given an athletic scholarship one year, when an extra one was available, only to have it given to an incoming player the next year. instead, i think he was given an academic scholarship for a year

MediumHeadCHUD said...

perhaps i spokr too soon. WAY too soon. this guy is playing like a buffoon!

daddy fabulous said...

bro, he's a freshman still. don't be too worried about his play. it's exciting that we're his top choice.

TheGreedMan said...

So it looks as if JC has already started cleaning up the mess..

I know those kids wanted to play for UK, and it sucks to disappoint them, but its for the best..

We absolutely have to get a stud PG tho. John Wall is said to be on a UK lean, which is sick.

Unless he does some major house cleaning with schollies, I dont know how many more people we can even go after..

The good news is I think this team is a PG away from being deadly..

greedo

MediumHeadCHUD said...

apparently, Vilarino is out, so this frees up an extra scholarship. i'm happy about this if for nothing else but the fact that i don't have to say "GJ" much more. it's not like "CJ" or "BJ" or even "Vijay." saying "GJ" seems just as unnatural as seeing Shane hooping in knee-high UofL socks

Hubba said...

haha that last comment was good Chud.

He does have a mess to clean up which is quite scary. If John Wall comes are you expecting big things? I've heard before that you shouldn't rely on a freshman to make a team.

I haven't seen the guy play but I know he's from N.C and UNC or DUKE never went after him after a while. I don't know if this means he is problematic or what.

If he gets Henry, you don't need Wall. That's just for recruiting dominance which means nothing. Henry is a one on one guy and he is built like a man. Seriously he is a 2guard by nature but in that offense you don't need a true point. Hell Evans played it this year and you know he ain't a true point. You get a good ball handler who can get to the bucket then your in business. The problem is if he does get cut off and passes can the next guy dribble.

Hubba said...

This late in the game Johnny because they don't want to use Schyer at the point and they know Williams isn't a point. Hubba said...

Duke must be trying to get Wall so maybe he will stay and be with Young Curry next year.

5th year huh? Dudes getting his Masters.

Beamin said...

Hubbs it we get Cousins we still will need Wall in a big way. truthfully we dont need Cousins. yeah if we get him that would be great. Now with the exception of patterson leaving or Orton not coming our front court will be stacked so Cousins would just be bonus.Or if orton backs out Cousins is a higher recruit so it would be sweet. But at the end of the day a point guard is what we need worst than anything and is what makes the driible drive work.I do agree on not relying on a freshman to make the team though which is why if what is being said is true we will probably rely on the 40 something pts a game Patterson and Meeks score.

Beamin said...

To clarify before anyone puts it on here i do get that there is always a possibility of them not returning and a strong possibility their 40 plus isnt something they can get in this offense. If things work out they shouldn't have to.

daddy fabulous said...

EUTONS GONE!!!

Beamin said...

Been reading some different stuff and it seems like we have a lot riding on so many things. So much is up in the air right now it seems.

Patterson and Meeks coming back seemed like a certainty after listening to Dickie V but now seems real questionable.

Then there are the recruits. It seems that Hood is the only lock and that Orton is a 90% according to him but that 10 can be huge. Then Xavier Henry who I would bet goes to kansas, Cousins who i think we actually have a great shot at and then Wall whose list is very long and he isnt doing any visits back to lexington before his decision it seems. Of everyone we need a guard so bad, i have faith in Liggins but it truly is faith alone he has shown me little to believe for sure and Galloway is just not a scorer and in this offense that will be his downfall.

The one thing i am certain of is that we will have a great front court but in this offense if i understand correctly that amounts to nothing. So all in all I am still excited and looking forward to it all but I am going to limit my expectations to making the tourney and try to keep myself from buying into so much of the hype the media is pushing. The bar is high in Kentucky always and they have raised it even higher.

Shamisoshea23 said...

- Good points young Brent, everyone needs to let the recruiting fall into place before setting expectations. Here is my thought process on it, all these are just my opinions, though I suggest no one disagree.

- Jodie Meeks- 75% chance he returns. His stock is not very high, the coach he hates is gone, and JC will probably convince him that he combine monster numbers with big wins next season.

- Patrick Patterson- 60% chance he returns. Depending on what you believe he could be a mid to late first rounder, and with a new coach and system on the way maybe he is ready to go. However he repeatedly says hes probably coming back, and hes never had any real taste of winning at UK, which could change if he returns. He can also graduate at the end of next year and probably help his stock in the process, I think hes leaning towards staying.

- Xavier Henry- 50% duh. Hes going to decide between Kansas who has good footing with him, and UK who has the coach he wants to play for. Its a two horse race that could go either way.

- Demarcus Cousins- 60% chance he comes. He listed UK as his top choice, he wants to play for Cal, I remember him being recruited by UK and I dont think he was very interested, but I think JC will make him interested. If Orton commit holds it might hurt him coming, but right now I would say we are in the drivers seat with him.

- John Hood- Hes coming.

- Daniel Orton- 90% he comes per his Dad. Seems like he is going to come unless something about JC scares him off, and that would contradict the hiring of the man so it better not happen.

- John Wall- 40% he comes. I think this is a dogfight for his services, and he is the key component of this recruiting class. He told Chris on the phone that Memphis was his leader, although he had never announced it publicly, and that he liked everything about UK except the style of play. So we have a good shot, but IMO we are behind the 50% mark because he has not trimmed his list, and he has some great schools we will have to beat for his services.

- Dominique Ferguson- 25% he comes to UK- He is a UK fan and says he likes UKs system, but Tracy Webster was the reason he was coming to UK, and I think with that gone he will want to play with all his high school teamates at UL.

Beamin said...

Good point little Shane however here are some numbers for you.

The chance that shane is a huge cocksmith 100%

MediumHeadCHUD said...

Even if D-Ferg re-open his recruiting, UK still has another year to "win" him back.

Shane, regarding Fish's phone conversation with Wall: I've always wondered how this works. Does Fish just pick up the phone and call him, or is it a conference call type thing, with multiple reporters asking questions?

Shamisoshea23 said...

- The website Chris works for is an affiliate of ESPN, and ESPN has access to all the phone numbers of all football and basketball recruits in the country and he can call them at his discretion.

- This reminds me that you asked me a question the other day about if Ive heard anything on the recruits, but all Chris is hearing from them are the same things that Matt Jones is reporting.

daddy fabulous said...

if i was fish, i would lose that phone number privilege REAL fast!

ME- "hey john, how's it goin?"

wall- "pretty good"

ME- "so, are you coming to UK or WHAT!?"

wall- "well i'm thinking about 5 schools, so...."

ME- "LOOK KID! NO ONES PAYING YOU TO THINK! JUST SIGN WITH UK!!!"

Hubba said...

Frontcourt scoring in Cal's system is a bonus. If he has complete mismatches then I think he would throw it down low and let them work. The biggest knocks on his teams are that they can't shoot consistantly. He has a Coonker in Meeks but that's about it.

Now if you watch Memphis you will know that the Bigs lead the break. If they block a shot, they run. All be it with a PG that can get them the ball in transition.

I agree the PG is a top need but if you get Henry, you don't need Wall. He can start the offense like Evans did for him this year.

I think Liggins can do this offense. It gives him a little more leisure which can free up mistakes. He doesn't have to be afraid of not getting into games with 1 turnover. Calipari usually isn't like that. He will however ride his studs to the wheels fall off.

TheGreedMan said...

Hubs,

I hope youre right about him throwing it down low, we are going to have a SERIOUS advantage down there.. Especially if we add Orton, Cousins, or both..

I think at this point, Miller has shown the ability to knock down the open shot and I think he is only going to get better..

Also, dont forget about John "I'm so" Hood.. Dude is a scorer, he averages like 27 pts a game..

It doesnt even have to be Wall, we just need a starting PG.. I think Liggo and Gallo can handle the back up role..

greedo

MediumHeadCHUD said...

otha, i think my phone conversation would go the exeact same way

hubba, riding ANYTHING til the wheels fall off is a-ok by me. that's one of my favorite phrases of all time

Hubba said...

I feel you Chud. The only problem is if you rely too heavily on it and it doesn't work or teams shut it down, then you are f'd.

Greedo, I don't think he is that dumb not to use advantages being that he sort of has the pro mindset. All the NBA is getting the ball to players that are can score in their optimal position. He gets players to do this one thing.

27 eh, he ain't in High School anymore but I get what your saying. He will have to be able to get to the hole though in this offense. Not saying that they wont shoot 3's but he's all about inside scoring.

I was going to put Miller in the category with Jodie but he just started doing it late in the season. If he gets consistant then he will be considered a shooter.

Having horses in the post is such a luxury. It can honestly be the difference from being out the first round and making a Championship run. If you guys get Patterson and Orton then double teams will be minuscule but you will see a lot of Zone most likely. That's usually the way teams defend Cal's teams which plays to Jodie's strength.

The class will be made with another guard and 1 more Big. You get those and they all get the offense quick then you guys will be substantially better. Perhaps Sweet 16 ready even. This all is to be taken with a grain of salt being that you don't know seedings and things like that.

B-Man said...

Shane's right, Hubba you hate the Cats. Prolly more than me.

Jon Hood scored 27 a game in high school and won Kentucky's Mr Basketball eh? Sounds a lot like Brandon Stockton and Josh Carrier's resume to old czar :) hehe just kidding.

Rumor has it Andre averaged over 30 a game in HS.

Too many people (including myself) are acting like they created this offense and are some kind of dribble drive guru. Truth is none of us know exactly what it's going to be like.

Good to see all you UK fans sticking by JC and him telling so many kids to hit the road. Granted they might not be Calimari type players, but to tell them all to hit the road is bush IMO.

Greedman, Don't be sold on Jon Hood's scoring average in high school. I believe he was 3rd in the state as far as ppg. Not to mention his team was horrible. I mean downright pathetic. Scoring in HS doesn't mean anything. As Czar said, Andre McGee averaged over 30 ppg in high school and you saw what he did in college. Totally different positions, I know, but you get the point. Same with Carrier, Neltner, Stockton, Tilford, blah, blah. That said, I've seen Hood play and he sold me in person. He is quite possibly the ugliest looking dude I've ever seen and doesn't look like a ball player at all but he's legit for sure. Not sure how his game is gonna translate to college, but I think he's got what it takes.

it would get even more under your skin if you found out that, that guys father, grandfather, and great grandfather etc. ALL called your ancestors faggots too

you'd be like gees! what's your problem man?!!

back to UK stuff though,

all we need is JOHN F'N WALL!!

cousins and henry would truly just be bonuses.

it actually looks like we're going to get cousins. but, we need wall more than anything so that all this talent can have some direction out there.

anymore news on players getting the boot?

is it official that porters not coming back next season? or is that still speculation?

what about pilgrim?

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, GREEEEEEEEEEEEEED OR DIEEEEEEEEE!!!!

is anyone else as impressed as i am about all the media interviews calipari's done since he was hired? there's no way that guys got more than 2 hours of sleep since he took the job.

all these interviews are sweet though. the guy literally says all the right things, and everything UK fans like myself want to hear.

- Well boys we've made it through the first weekend of the rest of our lives. Aside from all BCGs recruits decommitting its been rather uneventful on the news end, outside the media blitz our new coach has unleashed.

- I will say that I for one am ok with no news, landing one of the recruits that are high on Calipari would be sweet, but Im fine as long as the status quo doesnt change. If Meeks and Patterson return, and Orton and Hood honor their commits, then UK will still be a joy to watch next year.

- John Wall would be out of this world to land, but I believe Galloway and Liggins will do fine in the DDM. Meeks and Patterson will do what they do, Orton and Pilgrim will fill out the inside presence that killed us last year, and Miller, Harris, and Hood should give us some solid perimeter swing play. Throw in a little Perry, Harrelson, and possibly some Porter and I dont see how we can be a bad team next year.

- The small percentage of the fan base forecasting a Final Four next year will be disappointed, but I think the majority of Cat Nation is gonna be thrilled with next year no matter what.

Somebody said there's an article on catspause that says Ferguson has a list of 3 schools - UofL, IU, and Purdue. Is this true? Has he eliminated UK? Or are those the 3 schools that he is considering ALONG with UK?

I would really love to see that guy in Cardinal red. I think he would be a dream fit for Pitino's system similar to Earl Clark.

Shamisoshea23 said...

- I would not love to see him in Cardinal Red.

yeah, fataman, that would stink, yo

Federline, yo

Hubba said...

I miss Earl already and he ain't gone yet.

I heard somewhere that Patterson is the only one there is to worry about getting back being that he is slated as a 1st round pick if he leaves.

Have you guys been hearing Roy Williams pressers? They have honestly been top notch. I'm talking the TOPS, you know....like the baseball cards.

BRDD said...

Is there any new word on the 2009 recruits that UK is in the mix for. I haven't been on ITV a lot, but I figured some stuff might be going down pretty soon as far as commitments and stuff.

What say you, dudes?

TheGreedMan said...

Johnny,

There are a ton of rumors flying like always..

I have read that we can get Cousins if we want him, and we do.

I have also read that Orton is not a guarantee, which makes Cousins all that more important..

I know we have to be going after a PG as well.. Wall is the first choice, but he is the primary target for anyone that he will consider..

I think the second target at PG is Bledsoe, who wants to go to Duke. Duke hasnt offered yet b/c they think they can get Wall.

I honestly cant see Wall going to Duke tho, who would he hang out with? Supposedly UNC just started recruiting Wall but I read somewhere that someone close to wall (either a coach or parent or something) has no respect for Roy Williams and said he will not end up there.

There is also the possibility of another top 50 guard that signed with Memphis, Nolan Dennis. He is a 2 guard which doesnt fit a need, but with the DDM he is another weapon that we could probably use if we do not get Wall or Bledsoe.

I dont know about anything being for sure, but this is what I have read over the past week or so.

- Jerry Meyer has been broadcasting gloomy news for Cat fans as of late, first claiming hes hearing Wall is a Duke lean, and that if Cousins commits to UK Orton will go to Kansas. Hood has said he is going to stick with his commitment, and I dont really put much stock in the Memphis players who signed LOI following him to UK.

- Personally I would rather have Orton than Cousins, mostly because Orton chose to be a Cat from the start, but also he is just a massive player. I mean he is freaking huge and I would love to see him clog up the lane for a few years. However BCG was his coach so I understand if he doesnt want to play for Cal, plus if Cousin does come and Pat stays from mu understanding that would be a real log jam in Cals system.

- If we miss on Wall I dont expect a full court press on Bledsoe, I think he will just focus on getting Liggins and Galloway prepped for his system.

- These are just my opinions, but I dont see us landing anyone besides maybe Cousins and/or Wall. I could see a combination of Pat, Meeks, Orton, Stewart, Harrelson, and William not on the team next year though.

TheGreedMan said...

Shane,

I read that somewhere too, which would suck.

I think I would take Orton b/c it looks like Cousins is for sure a 1 and done player.

If we knew what Pat was doing it would be easier to asess the situation for sure.

I really like your confidence in Liggo and Gallo Shane.

I had a convo with the Ludwigs about them as well and I think it was the consensus that the world will not end if we dont get a PG as long as these 2 are still on the roster.

But Damn Man, getting Wall would just set the tone for things to come in UK bball.

shane, your last paragraph really threw me in the garbage dump.

i know that's the worse case scenario, but man, just thinking about that possibility sucks.

Shamisoshea23 said...

- Have no fear Jlud, even if the worst case scenario played out, we would just have to endure another bad season. Would that suck? Yes, for sure. However this time we have a proven commodity at the helm of the program, we all had faith in BCG, but it was more based on an upwards climb of the trajectory his career was headed before he took the UK job. Is it a sure thing that Cal is gonna dominate the SEC and win a championship while at UK? Of course not, since he is 1 year removed from a record breaking season and nearly a championship I would argue its a strong possibility, but the one thing we can be certain of is that he will get players and he will win. Hes proven that much without question so far in his career, and even if 2009 is not the year is could be under the right circumstances, we will eventually get to those circumstances.

- This guy can get the top players in the country, as he likes to say, he can recruit the best of the best. If you are the worst coach in America ( which he isnt), but you can recruit the top guys you will still win a lot of games and generate an exciting brand of basketball while doing so.

- So look at it this way, if the worst case scenario happens for UK next season, just remember that the worst case scenario for Cal as our coach should balance that out.

Shamisoshea23 said...

- Chris spoke with Xavier Henry today, and according to Henry himself UK is not out of the picture yet( despite reports he had already chosen KU). He said he hasnt been able to sit down with his family yet, they were supposed to this weekend but his brother couldnt make it, but he told Chris that the decision was still in the air and that it would be between UK, KU, and Memphis. He really wants to play with his brother, but I dont think it will be a deciding factor in his decision.

- If Josh Pastner is the new Memphis coach then it could throw a wrench in UKs plans for sure. First we lose Cals top recruiter, and Cousins and Henry will both take long hard looks at Memphis, not to mention it would probably eliminate Nolan Dennis.( Who Im not rooting for because he has already signed a LOI with Memphis, but if it happened I would take it.

MediumHeadCHUD said...

shane, given the fact that Pastner is a young (was on the '97 Arizona title team... if D.A. hadn't been hurt, we'd have won by double digits) coach with zero experience, would you say that it throws this kind of wrench or this kind of wrench into our recruiting hopes?

Shamisoshea23 said...

- Somewhere in-between Chud, somewhere in-between.

BRDD said...

HIHU CHUD!!

The look on that old man's face is awesome. Even he can appreciate the size of the wrench that he's using.

Pastner is in as Memphis' coach. A lot of people think this guy sucks as a head coaching candidate. I guess we'll see.

daddy fabulous said...

my stotha knows how to make his little otha laugh!!

i definitely thought the second wrench would've been bigger, but the smallness of it really made it hilarious. well done.

so henry's still in the mix eh? well, that's just fine by me

f'n dad of his is starting drama

B-Man said...

Henry prolly hasn't spoken to his dad since he was 6.

Shamisoshea23 said...

- So Jodie Meeks declares huh? So far we are heading down the right path for the old worst case scenario, but at least hes not signing an agent.

- I think Pastner is a great move by Memphis, really there only move. That team has no real long term success potential, but if they can get a guy who will keep most of the class they can have a shot at the Final Four next year.
