The Early Haul: Cal on top again

With Cauley, Poythress, and Goodwin, I get the feeling Cal has given the program some guys who should be around for a couple years. Granted, 2 are 5-star guys per Rivals, but it doesn't seem like either Goodwin or Poythress have received anywhere NEAR the hype as some of our current guys. And don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. On the contrary, I'm pretty pumped!

What are your thoughts, dudes?

2011: Allow the contests to COMMENCE!!!!!

Well, men, after an always lengthy off-season, and a 3-second dry-hump of a football season, alas.... it's basketball time!

The Commonwealth's team stands on the shoulders of Calipari's first two teams -- teams that, despite their youth, were able to "put it all together" and treat us all to two memorable years of basketball and leave previous disappointments far, far away in the program's rear view mirror.

Without spending another second on the past, let me just state the obvious: these are great times to be a UK fan -- from the constant buzz in the program, to the pride we can always take when our guys step out onto the court. And all credit goes to Calipari, with some even deservedly going to Lee Todd and Mitch Barnhart for making a call that admittedly was (at least to me) kind of like asking the girl of your dreams to go steady after she's just spent 5 years away at Arizona state -- huge potential for boners, but also a fear of what might be hiding in the vagina that could end up burning you at some point.

But I digress...

I couldn't be much happier with where we've been the past two years, how we're positioned this year, and with the way Coach appears to have us set up for years to come.

I don't have much analysis or news at this point (although I look forward to our man Shane quenching our thirst when such opportunity avails). I do have great excitement, as always, and I know you dudes do as well.

Friday will be my 5th installment of Big Blue Madness, and I can't wait.

All my life, I've lived by a code. And the code is simple: honor the gods, love your woman, and cheer heartily and mightily for the Blue & White.

UK is mother to us all.

Let the games begin!

2011 FINAL FOUR

Without a doubt the best story on the team. I was part of the group that literally hated Jorts at the beginning of the season. Never in a MILLION years did I think I would have the love affair that I have with him now. The dudes transformed like WHOA!

Miller's been on one of the worst UK teams, to one of the most talented, to another completely different, and talented team. He's had to constantly find his role, and adapt to the ever changing environment that has been UK basketball as of late. While he's frustrated me immensely by not asserting himself like I think he can at times, it's so sweet to see him, a Kentucky boy, lifelong UK fan, cut down the nets, and go to the Final Four.

Don't get crossed little buddy. Brandon Knight, the General of this team, and possibly the smartest UK player that was actually great at basketball. I really hope he sticks around next season, but if he doesn't the late game heroics he's had of late will live on in UK lore.

LEGGO!! From possible transfer, and college-dropout to Final four. Can't wait to see what he's able to do against Walker.

Probably the ugliest still pic of all-time. C'mon Hood...why you gotta be so ugly? It still boggles my mind why Poole has never seen significant playing time. What could this guy be doing in practice?

Sweet 16!!

Doran Lamb's Good, and this Blog Stinks!

Show him how it's done Stacey.

COME ON!!!!!!!!!!

Could it be anymore ridiculous around here? Yesterday we receive a commitment from the most skilled big man left on the board in 2011 out of nowhere!! Even Cal appeared to be genuinely surprised by the commit. If you listened to his commitment it seems apparent that he was just wooed by the fact UK wanted him. We're talking about a west coast kid whos never even been on campus mind you, and has had been believed a Gonzaga or Kansas lean for over a year. UK has only been on him hard for two weeks, but the kid knows if he doesnt bite now the scholly might not be there in the Spring. Its just where UK recruiting is at right now, there is nothing in NCAA history to match what Cal has done in the last 17 months. Twelve 5* commits in that time span including 4 players that finished or were ranked #1 in the class at one point. Just try and soak that it, its hard to because its so insane, and because he has churned out the commits with such regularity while at UK. Its not just the top 25 kids we are landing, its the quality of kids. History suggests that talent wins championships, it takes a lot more as well, but talent is a must and odds are we will have the most as long as Cal is here. At this point I think it would be shocking if Cal doesnt bag #8 before he leaves UK, the talent that is lined up and the likely hood of less turnover to the pros than last year suggest it could happen within the next two years.

Is it Blog Update time?
