COME ON!!!!!!!!!!

Could it be anymore ridiculous around here? Yesterday we receive a commitment from the most skilled big man left on the board in 2011 out of nowhere!! Even Cal appeared to be genuinely surprised by the commit. If you listened to his commitment it seems apparent that he was just wooed by the fact UK wanted him. We're talking about a west coast kid whos never even been on campus mind you, and has had been believed a Gonzaga or Kansas lean for over a year. UK has only been on him hard for two weeks, but the kid knows if he doesnt bite now the scholly might not be there in the Spring. Its just where UK recruiting is at right now, there is nothing in NCAA history to match what Cal has done in the last 17 months. Twelve 5* commits in that time span including 4 players that finished or were ranked #1 in the class at one point. Just try and soak that it, its hard to because its so insane, and because he has churned out the commits with such regularity while at UK. Its not just the top 25 kids we are landing, its the quality of kids. History suggests that talent wins championships, it takes a lot more as well, but talent is a must and odds are we will have the most as long as Cal is here. At this point I think it would be shocking if Cal doesnt bag #8 before he leaves UK, the talent that is lined up and the likely hood of less turnover to the pros than last year suggest it could happen within the next two years.

JUST BE REAL

This investigation took place months ago, they didnt find anything, and the facts in the Times story are the facts period. Problem is there are no facts, merely suspicion and allegations. This story is gassed up, unless something new comes from it Im putting it to bed. Anyone feel me?

WHO'S COMING WITH ME??

Rivals #3 ranked player
All indications are that we can go ahead and allow ourselves to expect to see this guy play to begin the season. Is there a bigger mystery in the 2010 class than this guy? Dominated overseas, broke Dirks record at the Summit game, and took the top big man ranking in the class, but I feel like we dont know a lot about him. To me this guy is a question mark, but in a really good way, the only question being how good will he ultimately be?

Rivals #33 ranked player
If you guys are like me this kid is gonna be a favorite, he's the only recruit that seemed like he was dying to be at Kentucky. He has been pumped to put on the jersey from the moment it became a reality for him. Hes talented, has defensive upside, and will be around for 4 years, I'll take it.

Rivals # 21 ranked player
Watching this kid knock down open threes will be a much welcomed sight. Its my understanding that he is not an out of this world three point shooter, but you can tell from watching him it wont take him long to get the long ball to match his mid range. He sure didnt have trouble hitting shots in any of the all star games we saw.
Rivals 6th ranked player
The jewel of the class, IMO, despite Kanters ranking and upside. Take any ranking or speculation and throw it out the window, this was THE PG Cal wanted, the kid he selected to carry on the legacy. When I talk to UK friends they seem to be sleeping on Knight, partly because there is no way he can be Wall, and because he didnt look great at the Mcdonalds game, but I think we have something special. He has one of the slickest crossovers I've ever seen, can nail the 3 from NBA range, and has the smarts to be the leader this young team needs.

This is what we have so far, and most the time you could call it a wrap and it would be a hell of a day, but we arent done yet. With the Jones saga raging on, and probably diminishing the chance of him being a Cat, how do you guys see the class finishing, with or without Jones?

Farewell to a Big Blue Hero

Well, that bittersweet time of year is upon us. On one hand the postseason is just around the corner and theres nothing better than that, but it also brings with it the departure of kids we've grown to love. This year one dwarfs all the rest, and Im sure you guys can guess who Im talking about. I know there are other people leaving, including some seniors, but this guy deserves his own post.

I dont know how much you all followed recruiting back in 2007, but it was pretty much the jumping on point for me. The reason was simple, for the first time in my life as a UK fan our talent pool lacked a lot to desire, and it was time for me to see what the problem was. Patrick Patterson's recruitment took on a life of its own amongst my closest UK friends, we new this kid was the key to UKs future. Now in 2007 the world was a totally different place (lol), Florida had won BACK TO BACK NCAA championships and they were the presumed leaders for his service. UK had also missed out on a now legendary list of big men that we recruited from 2005-2007, it just seemed like there was no way we could land this kid. I was at Jefferson Mall when he made his announcement at a Verizon kiosk in the middle of the mall, I got a call from Chris and he told me Patterson picked UK and I screamed like a little girl right there. I was so happy I couldnt contain it. It was an uncertain time, UK had struggled for the last two years, we had a new coach, and Florida seemed like they had the SEC on lock, but landing a recruit like Patterson was exactly what the program had to have at that moment to survive.

Obviously things werent smooth sailing in Pats first two years, but he was a rock, and just try and envision what the program would have been without him. Just really think of how bad things were, and then how much worse they would have been if he hadnt been a Cat. It's insane, we might have fallen so far that we couldnt attract a big name coach like Cal, and Im not just being dramatic. I think we would have been looking at like 12-13 win seasons. Had he of gone to Florida they probably could have been final four contenders 2 out of the last 3 years rather than NIT laughing stock, but he came to Kentucky and he'll always be an all time favorite for me.

Now, regardless of how the year ends, we get to send him off in style. He's played on the most nationally covered team in the land, been on multiple magazine covers, won the SEC regular season title, and been ranked #1 this season. Given the hardships he endured under the BCG regime, any post season success we enjoy will just be gravy for #54. Im sure it doesnt hurt his feelings that he played himself into the lottery this year. Hes a special Wildcat, and he deserves every good thing he gets from here forward, hard to find any fan of college basketball who doesnt like the guy.

PATTERSON BOUNS PICS

What is Patterson looking at right there?
2008 will only be remembered for the epic failure down the stretch which is a shame because in between these two put on some of the finest shows this program has ever seen. They were LITERALLY part of a two man offense that BCG ran, as by his own admission he didnt feel we needed a 3rd scorer, but these two had us in the tourney last year until BCG lost the team in the final four games of the season. These two will always be kind of intertwined to me, no matter what kind of success Pat has had with the new crop of kids this year.
I dont see any video game covers in Pats future, but I do think he is gonna be a solid pro. You know hes gonna bust his ass and play hard nosed defense, if he can hit the open jumper he will have a 10 plus year career.
Just look at that raw emotion.
Take one last look, you can get more talented guys to come to your school, but this guy has been the total package since day 1, damn.... gonna miss him so bad.

EASTERN POWERS COLLIDE!!!!!

I've been to Vandy, and they truly had the weakest girls of anywhere I've ever been. Thats's besides the point, but Saturday is a big game, because Vandy is good, why all the SEC naysayers have been talking shit all year they have quietly put together a nice season, and a team capable of handing us our second loss. We will lose another game this season, but losing two in a row right now would be damaging to our fragile and pathetic fan base, who have acted like pieces of shit following the SC loss. I dont care how pumped up we are, Vandy is gonna be ready, there wont be a buzz saw effect, Cats are gonna have to roll up their sleeves and work hard for a win Saturday. I do think a focused and hopefully wiser Cat squad win a well played game, and show significant improvement in the areas that cost us Tuesday.

I hate these BUTTHOLES!!!

Can you believe that we havent won at UF since 2004!! That should be a wake up call to anyone who thinks that this will be a walk in the park tomorrow. At least we dont have to worry about tools like Teddy Dupay.
Thank God that Jag Off didnt have a winning record against us. God Bless you Jodie, thank you for grilling the shit out of Butthead himself.
I have to be honest, I didnt hate Noah like most people did. I liked his enthusiasm, and his unkempt look and style of play. Sure I would kick him in the nuts for beating us 7 straight times, but thats different.
I do have a bad feeling about the game, but that picture right there sums up what gives me confidence. I am more and more at ease with Cal behind the wheel right now, he has guided us through ever challenge we have faced so far this year. Men lie, women lie, numbers dont, Cal is one of the best coaches in the country, and we got him.
Which leads me here, what if we got this guy? How bad did you all want him in 2008? I was in a frenzy waiting for his decision. Then when the job came open again, I wasnt as excited, but I was content and fully expected him to accept. Then he spurned us again, and the rest is history being recorded one game at a time. Lets go CATS!!!!!!!!!!
